Tornado warnings pass through Michiana on Tuesday

No, we’ve never had storms like this before, no,” said Wayne and Marilyn Eash, who live in Ligonier.

Destroyed roofs, fallen trees and scattered debris…these are just a few ways to describe the aftermath in Ligonier near Rochester Road.

On Tuesday afternoon, severe storms swept through the region, leaving behind major destruction.

“I heard a roar and then it got really windy. My wife told me to go inside the house, so I ran inside the house and said there must be something going on,” Eash said.

One homeowner reported that not only did his trees land in his neighbor’s yard, but his trailer was also thrown into the air.

Parked on his front yard but found on the side of his house next to trees.

TB: Are you surprised that your house was not affected?

“Yes, we are very lucky. The Lord has watched over us,” said Eash.

Wayne and Marilyn Eash live just a quarter mile from where many of their neighbors suffered severe damage to their homes and yards.

They were amazed at their luck, because they had only narrowly escaped disaster.

Another neighbor turned to his insurance company for help because many trees had fallen in his backyard.

Ligonier was not the only area affected. A barn in LaGrange County was completely destroyed, surrounded by downed power lines and fallen trees.

Neighbors were seen helping out, but the situation was grim, daylight was fading, and the extent of the destruction was still unclear.

If you notice any damage from Tuesday’s storm, you can report it to your local emergency management authorities.

The National Weather Service will conduct a more detailed investigation in Noble and LaGrange counties.
