Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater’s social media channels are getting a new branding for the 25th anniversary

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 25th Anniversary 1

Activision appears to be ready to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series, as the official Twitter and YouTube pages have been updated with new illustrations honoring the historic moment. The image seen below uses a blacked-out version of the Tony Hawk silhouette from the recent Pro Skater 1 + 2 remakes alongside the brand new wording “25th anniversary THPS.”

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater was originally released in the US on September 29, 1999 for PS1, so if Activision has any concrete plans to celebrate this milestone, they’ll likely announce them later this month. The classic then came to Europe three weeks later, on October 18, 1999, followed a year later by ports for Nintendo 64, Game Boy Color and Dreamcast.

After the complete failure of Pro Skater 5 in 2015, the series lay dormant until Vicarious Visions came along with the aforementioned remakes of the first two games bundled together for modern platforms. Activision reportedly turned down remakes of Pro Skater 3 and Pro Skater 4 in favor of continuing to work on the Call of Duty series, so whether this new 25th anniversary celebration could produce anything notable is uncertain. Specifically, Facebook’s version of the new branding states that the celebration will run “all month long,” so there could be several updates and news in the coming weeks.
