Tom Holland’s debut film will soon be removed from BBC iPlayer

Tom Holland is one of the biggest stars in the world today, but it’s easy to forget that he wasn’t always Spider-Man.

After impressing on stage as Billy Elliot, Holland made his way to film and began taking on more dramatic roles. Technically, his debut film was an English dub role for Arrietty as Shō, but the first time we actually saw him in a film was The Impossible.

The disaster film is based on the experiences of a family during the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor play Maria and Henry Bennett, Holland plays Lucas, one of their three sons.

If you haven’t seen it yet, you can watch The Impossible now on BBC iPlayer, however it will be removed in the early hours of Monday 1 April, meaning Sunday, March 31 is your last full day to watch it.

“The Impossible” is also currently available to watch on Netflix in the UK and Ireland.

In 2013, when Holland was attending the awards ceremony for his film “The Impossible,” he was asked what his ideal future role would be.

“There are so many roles available every year that it’s hard to know exactly what you want to do. But you should definitely do something with a bit of action or comedy, maybe something less serious than ‘The Impossible.’ Or something that’s a bit funny,” he said.

“What kind of superhero would I like to play? Maybe Spider-Man in about 10 years. Maybe. The reboot of the reboot.”

That was a really good prediction.

“The Impossible” was directed by JA Bayona, who returned to the disaster genre earlier this year with “Society of the Snow,” which became one of Netflix’s most-watched non-English language films.

The film is also nominated for this year’s Oscar for Best International Feature Film, but Society of the Snow faces stiff competition from The Zone of Interest. The two films competed at the BAFTAs and The Zone of Interest won.

The Impossible will be removed from BBC iPlayer on April 1st.
