Tom Brady makes no apologies for the attitude he brought to Tampa Bay

Tom Brady won’t apologize for the stress he put on his Tampa Bay teammates.

Recently, current Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield commented on the mood when Brady was in charge.

“The building was a little different with Tom in it,” Mayfield said. “Obviously Tom is different in terms of play. I think he appealed to everyone, a tense atmosphere Everyone was pretty stressed. They wanted me to come in, be myself and bring the joy of football back to people who weren’t having as much fun.”

Brady, who works the Eagles-Bucs game in Tampa, responded to Mayfield’s comments.

I found it stressful not having Super Bowl ringsBrady said during the Fox broadcast. “So I had the attitude of a champion that I went to work with every day. This wasn’t day care. When I wanted to have fun, I took my kids to Disneyland. . . . There’s a way to approach this game and that’s with the right attitude and trying to push each other out of each other’s comfort zones and great teammates do that. You come in, I’ve got someone like (Rob) Gronkowski, I’ve got someone like (Mike) Evans. High expectations are placed on us. We have to make sure we go out and deliver.”

On-air partner Kevin Burkhardt noted that Brady’s competitive spirit is still going strong.

“Still in there,” Brady said. “No excuse.”

It wasn’t quite there yet in Brady’s final year in Tampa, and it’s hard not to wonder if the teammates Brady put under stress during the 2020 and 2021 seasons were a little upset when he did Camp went away for more than a week and then took a break from the season to attend Patriots owner Robert Kraft’s wedding and met the team in Pittsburgh instead of traveling with his teammates.

Regardless, Brady’s approach worked. Anyone who was there in 2020 received a Super Bowl ring.
