A sure way to win at Connections is to get very good at recognizing what categories are likely to be involved. This can be difficult because the publisher often uses tricks to deceive you. To help you overcome this deception, we have four pointers for today’s categories:

• A category contains important information about a particular drink
• One category deals with ways to enter functions
• One category concerns parts of words that come before others
• One category deals with words that come before a word, which is typically a political title.

After examining the clues, you may find that you still need a second nudge. In that case, we have listed all the category names for you:

Yellow Answers: Revealed and Explained

If you want to examine a bottle of wine yourself, you will need a whole lot of information. The type of GRAPE used, the REGION it was grown in, the WINERY it was made in, and the VINTAGE or year it was bottled. All of these things are very important information for every wine connoisseur and often determine personal taste and preferences.

Green Answers: Revealed and Explained

SLIDER was a bit of a misleading word here, as it could have been a nice sandwich category together with SUB and BURGER. This category sounds nice, but unfortunately these words belong in different categories. Instead, these words are all types of inputs you can find on a consolewhich gives this category a very 80s science fiction feel. Like preparing a Death Star to blow up a planet.

Blue Answers: Revealed and Explained

PRO and SUPER seemed to fit together even before I knew what that category actually was. Finding out that RETRO and SUB also fit was a little more difficult. Normally Do not consider RETRO as a prefixso that was maybe the hardest part in this category specifically. SUB is also in here, which unfortunately wasn’t a sandwich, but once SLIDER got into the previous category, it was a lot easier to move the other two words.

Purple Answers: Revealed and Explained

This category was a little more difficult, but as with the last category, it is often just the leftover words that you choose at the end. I was inclined to think that the strange words fit together as usually happens with the last category, but I wanted to swap RETRO and PROM for a while. Eventually I was able to figure out what this category was, but not until it was almost too late.
