Time when rain showers are expected on Tuesday

Rain received between 1 and 2 inches of precipitation between Friday and Monday. While that helped, it won’t completely eliminate the drought in Michiana. Another 1 inch of precipitation could fall on Tuesday, but there will be isolated heavy showers and thunderstorms. High temperatures will be controlled, only around 70°F. The greatest chance of rain will be during the morning and afternoon/evening commutes. Rain chances and thunderstorm potential will decrease quickly after 7 p.m. The remainder of the forecast will have temperatures between 77°F and 80°F through Friday, and temperatures around 80°F Saturday and Sunday. Depending on the track of a tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico, we could have tropical moisture in the region late Saturday and Sunday.

TUESDAY: Scattered rain throughout the day. Lightning and thunder possible at times. The greatest chance of showers will be during the morning and evening commute. High around 21°C. Low 16°C. Winds from the east shifting to the north at 10 to 15 mph.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy with a few showers. A few rays of sunshine later in the day. High around 21°C. Low 11°C. Northwest winds at 8 to 16 km/h.

THURSDAY: Partly cloudy and dry. High around 27°C. Low 14°C. Wind from the east-northeast at 8 to 16 km/h.

FRIDAY: Partly cloudy. High around 27°C. Low around 16°C. Wind from the east-northeast at 16 to 32 km/h.

OUR NEXT FIRST WARNING: Fall is off to a cooler start, with temperatures right around average or even a degree or two below early in the week. By midweek, we’ll warm to 25 to 30 degrees, with occasional 27 degrees on Friday and Saturday. Rain chances are elevated for most of Tuesday, but then taper off by midweek. There’s a renewed chance of showers through the weekend, but there’s still a lot to be determined with whether a possible tropical system forms in the Gulf of Mexico and how far north the remnants of it move. Important to note is that all fire bans remain in effect throughout Michiana despite the new rains. A new updated drought forecast will be available Thursday.
