Tigers take on Cleveland: Here’s the ALDS schedule

HOUSTON – There will be playoff baseball in Detroit in 2024.

But first there is still a lot to do in Cleveland.

The Detroit Tigers defeated the Houston Astros in the Wild Card Series on Wednesday and advanced to the American League Division Series against the Cleveland Guardians.

The first two games will take place at Progressive Field in Cleveland.

But the Tigers finally return home for their first playoff game at Comerica Park in a decade: Game 3 in Detroit is Wednesday, October 9th.

Here is the full schedule for the ALDS:

in Cleveland

Game 1: Saturday, 1:08 p.m., TBS

Game 2: Monday, 1:08 p.m., TBS

in Detroit

Game 3: Wednesday October 9th, time to be announced, to be announced

Game 4 (if required): Thursday October 10th, time to be announced, to be announced

in Cleveland

Game 5 (if required): Oct. 12, date to be announced, to be announced

The Guardians won the AL Central and secured second place overall in the playoffs, earning them a bye in the Wild Card round. They will have had five full days off when the series begins on Saturday.

The Tigers will have a quicker turnaround, but the sweep gives them an extra day of rest. The Tigers also had several pitchers who went unused in the short series – Ty Madden and Casey Mize – or were left off the Wild Card Series roster – Keider Montero and Kenta Maeda.

“The nice thing about winning today is that we now have two days off before the weekend starts,” Hinch said. “So we’ll have plenty of time to go through the roster and see how we attack a five-game series as opposed to a three-game series.

“The guys who are here are going to celebrate tonight. We’ll enjoy it and think about Cleveland tomorrow.”
