Ticketmaster ignores Taylor Swift fan whose concert tickets were stolen from his account

A Taylor Swift fan was ignored by Ticketmaster when she reported that a scammer had stolen her concert tickets.

Savannah Van Skyhawk was attacked by hackers who accessed her Ticketmaster account and stole the tickets she purchased for one of Swift’s shows in Indianapolis, she told WTHR.

“(Scammers) took my tickets, transferred them somewhere else and then I couldn’t access my Ticketmaster account anymore,” she explained.

Van Skyhawk then approached the ticket giant several times – but the company hesitated.

“They just told me, ‘We’ll call you in three to five days.’ So I waited three to five days and they didn’t call me,” she said.

“I tried calling them again and then they said it had been three to five days. It was kind of a cycle, like no one had ever called me.”

Van Skyhawk said she was one of the lucky T-Swift fans who was able to buy the tickets at face value, as their resale value has since skyrocketed.

“We paid about $300 per ticket, and I’ve seen resale values between $4,000 and $5,000 per ticket,” she said.

“If we hadn’t gotten those tickets back, we wouldn’t have been able to afford another one.”

She said she eventually found the tickets she believed were hers on a resale website, noting they were “the same section” and “the same row.”

Over the past few months, various Reddit users have commented on a two-year-old post and told stories of their own Ticketmaster fiascos.

One claimed his ticket was stolen and resold, writing that he had “no hope” of any kind of refund.

Another person claimed their tickets were stolen and received a notification saying the issue would be resolved before the event.

“I received the email about the transfer and immediately changed my password,” the user wrote last week.

“Luckily I still have control over my account, but the tickets are gone.”

Van Skyhawk’s dilemma was solved, but not without the help of WTHR.

The news outlet contacted Ticketmaster after learning of the ticket holder’s situation, and the company restored her account and tickets the same day.

“They didn’t explain how it happened,” Van Skyhawk said.

“They just told me to change the email address and password once I have access to my account again.”

Ticketmaster released a statement to WTHR on the matter, saying they would be “happy” to help Van Skyhawk get her tickets back.

“Fans should be aware that unauthorized ticket transfers are often the result of poor password management, such as using the same password on multiple websites,” the company said.

“Fans should use a strong, unique password for their Ticketmaster account, just as they would for a bank account.”

The Daily Mail has contacted Ticketmaster for comment.
