Frances Tiafoe put Team World in the lead with a win over Daniil Medvedev at the Laver Cup in Berlin on Saturday.

The American, who reached the semifinals at the US Open, won the third set, which counts as a match tiebreaker, 3:6, 6:4 and 10:5.

Each match win counts for two points on Saturday and three points on Sunday. The first team to 13 points wins in a format reminiscent of golf’s Ryder Cup. On Friday, wins counted for one point.

Tiafoe’s victory puts his team 4-2 ahead of Team Europe ahead of Carlos Alcaraz’s match against American Ben Shelton. German Alexander Zverev will then face Taylor Fritz of the USA.

The final match of the day is a doubles match, pitting the European pair of Casper Ruud and Stefanos Tsitsipas against Ben Shelton and Alejandro Tabilo.
