This week temperatures are on a roller coaster and records are in danger

Today’s forecast:
After a warm weekend, our weather will be even hotter on Monday as temperatures in lower elevations are expected to rise into the 80s and 90s. A midday cold front will bring strong wind gusts to the Plains, with gusts of 30 mph possible along the I-25 corridor and even stronger gusts toward the Colorado-Kansas border. The wind is expected to ease towards midnight and it will be quite cool overnight as the sky clears.

Forecast for Colorado Springs: High: 87; Low: 42. A forecast that will be too hot for most of October means another record high may occur in Colorado Springs this afternoon. Current record: 87 (2019). It will also be windy this afternoon, with peak gusts around 20-30 mph.

Pueblo Forecast: High: 93; Low: 44. Hot, dry and windy with today’s high in the lower 90s. Our current record in Pueblo is 94 degrees and is from 2019.

Canon City forecast: High: 90; Low: 48. The lower 90s will return to Canon City on Monday, but there will be a chill of more than 15 degrees tomorrow.

Woodland Park Forecast: High: 77; Low: 34. Warm and windy Monday, with increasing cloudiness this afternoon and a very slight chance of a heavy shower this afternoon.

Tri Lakes Forecast: High: 70s/80s; Low: 30s/40s. Thanks to well-above-average highs and dry skies in the Tri-Lakes area, there will be no signs of fall on this last Monday in September.

Plains forecast: High: 80s/90s; Low: 40s. Hot and windy, with the strongest gusts today north of Highway 50 and along the Colorado-Kansas border. Some gusts could reach speeds of up to 35 miles per hour.

Forecast for Walsenburg and Trinidad: High: 80s; Low: 40s. Monday will be unseasonably warm and windy along the southern I-25 corridor, with today’s high temperatures about 10 to 15 degrees above average.

Mountain Forecast: High: 60s/70s; Low: 30s. Warm, with a spotty shower or two possible across the highlands this afternoon. Most areas should remain dry with only about a 20% chance of rain.

Advanced Forecast Forecast:
Monday’s cold front will provide a brief taste of fall weather on Tuesday, with our high in the lower 70s in Colorado Springs and Pueblo. Tuesday will remain windy, with southerly wind gusts around 20-25 mph.

After a day in the 70s, we will return to the 80s and 90s across the Plains with the potential for more record heat on Wednesday. Unusually warm temperatures will likely continue in Colorado Springs on Thursday before our next cool front drops highs into the 70s and lower 80s on Friday.
