The New York Jets had high expectations this season with the return of four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers, but a 2-2 start prevented what should have been a clear start to the postseason.

Meanwhile, the Las Vegas Raiders are also 2-2, but are far from competitive with their current roster. Especially when his top receiver, Davante Adams, has told the team he wants to leave via trade.

There’s still a lot to play for, but both teams can close big gaps by honoring Adams’ request.

On Tuesday, Ari Meirov of the 33rd team had an interesting suggestion with Adams and a problematic defender for New York who hasn’t even seen the field this season.

According to Meirov, the Jets would send linebacker Haason Reddick to Las Vegas, while Adams would come the other way to the Big Apple and reunite with his former Green Bay Packers teammate Rodgers.

Of course, there would be some pick swaps, but those are variable details that are unlikely to matter much in the context of this season alone.

New York has a solid receiver room with players like Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard and Mike Williams, but can you imagine the dual threat that a duo like Adams and Wilson would provide when they line up on opposite ends of the line of scrimmage?

The defense has already struggled to contain Wilson for 60 minutes, but setting up a double-team strategy is fairly easy. With Adams also needing protection, that’s one less defensive back dedicated to Wilson or Lazard, which could give Rodgers so many more opportunities to carve up secondaries.

Not to mention, the excellent chemistry Adams and Rodgers have with each other would potentially help ease any turmoil the latter may have with the Jets management. Who wouldn’t want to see that connection again?

Accommodating Adams’ trade request sooner rather than later would avoid unnecessary drama in Sin City and, in turn, result in the acquisition of a valuable asset. Even if Reddick doesn’t improve any of his offensive woes this season, he would be a gigantic investment on defense to help star defensive player Maxx Crosby.

Just like Adams would hit New York in his checkbook if he had to restructure his contract Upon his arrival, Vegas must contend with Reddick’s demands – the same ones that caused Philadelphia to break away from him in the first place.

However, I believe Vegas owner Mark Davis would be more willing to pay the money to a player with an attitude like Reddick. I’m sure his mouth would be watering at the thought of disrupting the offensive line with Crosby at the helm and Reddick behind him.

Oh, and those picks were probably traded as part of the deal? These will serve to address the offensive issues, a matter worth putting off until next year, especially if there are plans to move on from current starting quarterback Gardner Minshew.
