SAN ANTONIO — Many Texans were woken up early Friday morning by an alarm of a different kind — and the Internet had a lot to say.

It all started just before 5 a.m. when a Blue Alert was issued in Memphis, Texas for wanted suspect Sam Altman.

The small town is located about 7 hours from San Antonio in Hall County near the Texas Panhandle.

To further anger the public, according to some comments on social media, the loud alarm was sounded for those whose phones were on silent or whose public safety notifications were turned off.

As you can imagine, the internet quickly found a “Seth Altman” on Facebook, and while it’s unclear if that’s who officials are looking for, the comments started pouring in.

One user wrote: “Please be attentive and wake me up at a more reasonable time next time.”

Comments on social media included:

“12 is looking for you, little brother”

“You can run, but people are looking for you because you woke us up.”

“You couldn’t have done this at a more opportune time?”

“Seth is going home, oh my god.”

“The eyes of TEXAS are on you”

Some Texans vented their frustration with law enforcement.

“Texas sending a “Blue Alert” at 4:50 a.m. is an abuse of the emergency alert system. How many people were woken up in the middle of their sleep by this? Ridiculous.”

Another user added: “@TxDPS I ask you to stop sending blue alerts in the middle of the night. I am sleeping. I won’t find the bad guy at 4 a.m. I’m not Batman.”
