I plan on getting a second one this weekend.

I already own two good oven mitts. One is a full-size silicone one and the other (which I will never throw away) is a silly-looking but very effective industrial glove that my late mother bought me after she spent her life in a professional kitchen.

Lately, I’ve been hearing about the Dollar Tree Simple Kitchen Silicone Grip Oven Mitts for a while. They come in lots of pretty colors and patterns (this is just a sample), so I decided to pick one up for $1.25.

Since I bought this mini glove, it’s the only one I keep reaching for. It’s quicker and easier to put on, much more comfortable, safer and more effective, and not bulky (that’s my biggest gripe with the others), so I guess the saying “small but mighty” is true.

This little glove has quickly become indispensable in my daily cooking routine. I use it multiple times a day and can’t imagine life in the kitchen without it. In fact, I’m going to pick up a second one this weekend if they don’t sell out in this story!

Why my Dollar Tree oven gloves are awesome

The secure, non-slip grip was the first thing that sold me on this oven mitt. The thick silicone coating on the outside of the mitt provides an incredibly stable grip, allowing me to handle even the heaviest cast iron pans with ease. The short design also allows for quick and easy putting on. In comparison, with my larger gloves, I often have to roll up the sleeves or fumble with them to get them comfortably on my hand and securely over or around my sleeves.

Aside from the comfort, I love how compact it feels. It’s not tight or small, but it allows for a lot more dexterity compared to my clunky mittens. Every time I tried to carefully place a quick bread on the counter or rotate a batch of muffins in my oven, the extra bulk of my thumb or fingers would poke into the sides of the rising dough, causing a permanent dent or fingerprint.

This glove allows me to grip the edges or sides of hot dishes more easily without the excess damaging my baked goods. In and of itself, that’s the best reason to buy it.

Of course, the glove’s silicone is heat resistant up to about 230-260°C, making it suitable for almost any cooking task I throw at it. However, when baking sourdough, I may have to rely on the old industrial glove.

It also feels incredibly sturdy and high quality, like it will last a long time. And finally, it’s easy to clean. I just have to throw it in the washing machine when it starts to look a little worn.

I absolutely love my Dollar Tree oven mitt. Although I’ve found many other Dollar Tree treasures, I’m really surprised at how good this mitt feels. For $1.25, it’s affordable, durable, and if I do say so myself, better than any other mitt I’ve used. I’m going to buy another one and hope to use them for a long time.
