Art & Apples Festival at Rochester Municipal Park

This three-day art fair features a panel of about 250 artists, a children’s area, live music and food vendors with something for everyone and plenty of apple-themed offerings. The 58th annual Art & Apples Festival is the premier fundraiser for Paint Creek Center for the Arts’ classes, exhibitions and other programs. Friday, 2-7 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is free, but a $5 donation is suggested. “Memphis the Musical” at the Birmingham Village Players

Set in the 1950s and performed for the first time on a community theater stage in Metro Detroit, this production tells the story of how black blues first reached white audiences. “It was the music itself that first drew me to ‘Memphis,'” director Mark Carley said in a press release about the Tony-winning musical. “The music is simply captivating. Sweatember: A fundraising pop-dance party at Planet Ant

Dress up like your favorite pop icon or invent your own party superstar persona and dance your way to this pop dance party with a dance floor, DJ, snacks and prizes. Stroll through the alley in the Cass Corridor

This free, volunteer-run festival is one of the city’s longest-running events. People come for the eclectic food, unique vendors and multiple stages of live music. Highlights this year include a drag show at 4 p.m. on the Community Party stage, Laura Rain and the Caesars at 6:30 p.m. on the Dally stage and Deastro at 7:15 p.m. on the Garden Party stage. BRED Hip-Hop Theater Festival at Hilberry Gateway

A mix of music, theater, dance and culture, the BRED Hip-Hop Theater Festival (BRED stands for Beats Rhymes Everything Detroit) features four plays inspired by hip-hop legends, plus an improv game show, performances, a street festival and more. Avril Levine at Pine Knob Music Theater

Early 2000s singer and chart-topper Avril Levine brings her “Greatest Hits” tour to the Clarkston area this weekend, with opening acts Simple Plan and Girlfriends. “Pulp Fiction” at the Redford Theater

The nonlinear, violent 1990s classic “Pulp Fiction” is being screened in 35mm this week at the historic Redford Theater to celebrate the film’s 30th anniversary, which is next month.
