These OnePlus flagship models may experience “dead phone” issues

Some OnePlus Smartphone users have been struggling with a serious problem in recent days. Users of some of the brand’s older flagship models, such as the OnePlus 10 Pro and the OnePlus 9 Prohave complained about dead phone issues on the company’s community page. Users have reported that their phones suddenly stopped working, their screens went black and the phone became completely unusable. In addition, when they got their phones repaired, they were informed of a dead motherboard issue that
An X-post from an account called OnePlus Club has shared several such complaints from OnePlus users. The post reads: “Recently, so many OnePlus 9 and 10 series users have been reporting that their device’s motherboard is breaking and OnePlus is not providing any support regarding this! It’s really worrying that flagship users are facing these issues and are unable to find a solution while OnePlus has provided a notable fix for the green line issue. I request them to provide a proper solution in this regard too @OnePlus_IN @OnePlus_Support”

Impact of this issue on users

One of the affected users said: “I have been a loyal OnePlus user for years and have proudly adopted the entire ecosystem. My previous phones included the 0P1, OP2, OP5, and OP7, and I was always happy with their performance. In December 2022, I bought the OnePlus 10 Pro and was initially thrilled with its performance. However, over time, the phone started to falter. After some tweaks, like tweaking app settings and controlling background activities, it worked perfectly again. The phone also had overheating issues, but I was able to fix these with app management and good charging habits.
Then, in August 2024, one afternoon my phone suddenly turned off, leaving me with a black screen and no response. I tried everything: rebooting, holding the power button for 10-20 seconds, pressing the power button along with volume up or down, and even following a battery cycling method – leaving the phone idle for 12-18 hours and then charging it for 12 hours. Despite all of this, the screen remained black and the phone was essentially broken. I took it to the service center where they tested the battery and screen, both of which were working fine. Unfortunately, they informed me that the motherboard was unresponsive.”
