These grooms hosted an Italian wedding weekend with performances by pop stars, opera trios and string quartets

Fashion was an important part of the equation for the soon-to-be couple. They even created several dress code mood boards for all guests to follow. “We wanted a completely different outfit every night,” they note. For the welcoming event, both grooms wore custom-tailored Brunello Cuccinelli double-breasted linen suits with matching loafers, while Charlie accessorized with a gold A. Lange & Söhne watch. For the wedding ceremony and reception, Charlie wore a double-breasted Brioni tuxedo with patent leather Zegna shoes, while Sam also wore a custom-tailored Savile Row double-breasted tuxedo. The next morning, the newlyweds changed into Dolce & Gabbana Speedos and Jacquemus and Marni shirts to match the theme of their “fruity and fabulous” pool party. To complete their wedding attire, the couple each wore linen over Brioni shirts for dinner at the vineyard.

Music was an equally important aspect of the groom’s wedding plans. The couple hired Nick Noorlind as their DJ for the entire weekend, but also added several live performances to the festivities to add extra energy. Boys4Road was an Italian touring band that performed at the welcome party, while The Ellingtons and electric violinist Andrea Casta got guests on the dance floor on the wedding night. The grooms even had Norwegian pop star Dagny perform a special show at the reception: “Dagny has since gotten in touch and said it was the most beautiful wedding she has ever performed at,” the couple says. The weekend ended with a classical string quartet by ALR Music and opera singers Three Tenors.

The grooms spent the morning of the ceremony with their bridal party – complete with matching pajama sets and Chappell Roan dance parties. After photos with photographer David Bastianoni, it was time to tie the knot. “The ceremony took place during the golden hour, when the yellow light filtered through the trees of the castle ruins and the warm breeze cooled the room,” the couple recalls. After a procession of the bridal party, each of the grooms walked down the aisle arm in arm with their parents. Sam walked down the aisle as a string quartet played Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” while Charlie walked down the aisle to Taylor Swift’s “Enchanted.” Charlie says, “I have never seen Sam cry so much in our nearly eight years of being together. I was nervous and overwhelmed with emotion as I waited to say “I do” to my sunshine!”

After a cocktail hour with mozzarella and prosciutto stations, guests headed to the greenhouse, with its long reception tables decorated with whimsical branches and wildflower arrangements in shades of red, green and white. The evening was filled with a three-course meal, speeches from the bridal party and Charlie’s father, and plenty of moments on the dance floor. Guests who made it past the end of the day then headed to Charlie and Sam’s villa for a late snack.

The newlyweds say many of their guests told them their Italian wedding was “life changing” because it was filled with so much love. “Sam and I have been on cloud nine since the weekend,” says Charlie. “We’re excited to start our new chapter as husbands.”
