Once again, Barça women start the season with the Joan Gamper Trophy in the team’s stadium, the Estadi Johan CruyffJust a few days before their departure for a tour of the USA, the Blaugranes will play their first home game against AC Milan, kick-off on Friday, August 23, 20:00 CESTThe event will start at 18:00 CEST and will include the team’s introduction to the fans from 19:00 CEST, as well as a wide range of different fun activities and live performances by musicians to suit all tastes.
Tickets are still available for this latest edition of the Gamper Game, which takes place just four days before the women’s team’s first game in the United States against Bay FC at Paypal Park in San Jose, California. Three days later, a game against Dallas Trinity FC takes place at Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas, Texas, making it the first time this season that fans will be able to see the team up close, including new coach Pere Romeu and the new recruits. Ewa Pajor, Kika Nazareth and Ellie Roebuck.
Activity program
Gates will open at 18:00 CEST, when activities for the public will begin. Fans can look forward to various games and surprises, including a DJ set, games in the stands and on the big screen around the women’s first team and the club’s 125th anniversary, a t-shirt rain for spectators, and games by Estrella Damm both before the match and at half-time, with the usual presenters providing the atmosphere. Ginestà is the guest musical duo and will sing the Barça anthem before the match and perform one of their own songs at half-time.
One of the most eagerly awaited moments of the event will undoubtedly be the presentation of the team and coaching staff, starting at 19:00 CEST. As usual, the players will come out onto the pitch one by one to greet the fans, including the new coach and the new signings.
Jersey with the 125th anniversary logo
A novelty in this edition of the Gamper match will be the shirt that the players will wear against AC Milan, just as the first men’s team did at the Gamper on August 8. As the club celebrates its 125th anniversary this year, the Blaugranes’ shirt will feature a specially designed logo on the right sleeve to commemorate the year the club was founded. This was presented a few months ago at an event with President Joan Laporta and the 125th anniversary commissioner, David Carabén. This will not be the only time that this logo appears, as it will also be used on other items throughout the season as the 125th anniversary celebrations continue.
Fourth Gamper in the Estadi Johan Cruyff
The first three editions of the women’s Gamper match were held at the Estadi Johan Cruyff and this edition will be the fourth. In the previous three editions, the trophy stayed at home.
BARÇA ONE will broadcast the match live and later in three languages (Catalan, Spanish and English). Before the match, there will be a special program starting at 18:30 CEST where all the details of the event will be discussed. It will then continue until after the match, where we will be able to see and hear the reactions of those involved.
