The US model of the HMD Barbie Phone has better specifications than the global variant

HMD has partnered with Mattel, the company behind Barbie, and unveiled a new phone at MWC 2024. A few days ago, the company announced that the device is ready for launch. HMD has launched two variants of the Barbie phone, one for the global market and one for the US audience.

While both versions look similar in terms of design, the US model of the HMD Barbie Phone offers significantly better specs than the global offering. Let’s find out how they differ from each other below, so read on.

The HMD Barbie Phone for the USA is based on the Nokia 2780 Flip and has significantly better specifications

The HMD Barbie Phone for the international market is a variant of the Nokia 2660 Flip in Barbie colors. However, the phone for the US audience has some improvements that set it apart from its international sibling. It is based on the better-equipped Nokia 2780 Flip feature phone.

The global Barbie Phone has a 2.8-inch screen, a Unisoc T-107 processor, 64 MB of RAM and 128 MB of storage. It has a 0.3 MP camera on the back, a USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 5.0, 4G and a 1,450 mAh battery. The international model is based on the S30+ operating system that HMD and Nokia have been using since 2013. It is also noteworthy that it includes a Barbie-inspired design and icons.

The US model offers better SoC, camera, interface and storage features

The US model of the HMD Barbie Phone, on the other hand, is more advanced, as it is equipped with the Qualcomm 215 processor. The device is based on a Barbie-style KaiOS 3.1 interface and has a convenient holder on the flip bar. The phone also has significantly more RAM (512 MB) and 4 GB of internal storage.

Furthermore, the US variant of the Barbie Phone has a better 5MP rear camera compared to the VGA camera on the global model. Moreover, it has Wi-Fi and A-GPS connectivity options which are not available on its international sibling. Both models also have a 1.7-inch QQVGA secondary display.

The HMD Barbie Phone has been available in the US since August 28th from Vodafone and Argos for £99. In the US, interested buyers will be able to purchase it from HMD’s online store from October for $129.
