The U.S. men’s basketball team aims for gold at the 2024 Olympics on Saturday. Here’s how to watch on TV and streaming – NBC Chicago

Note: The USA and France clash on Saturday is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CST.

For the US men’s basketball team, the gold medal was within reach on Saturday as the Americans looked to bring home a victory at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris – it is likely to be a showdown of epic proportions.

After defeating Serbia 95-91 in a thrilling semifinal, the U.S. men’s team now faces France for gold in a rematch of the Tokyo Olympics final three years ago. Stephen Curry scored 36 points in the U.S. semifinal victory – the second-most in U.S. Olympic basketball team history – Joel Embiid enjoyed more boos from the French while scoring 19 points, LeBron James recorded his second Olympic triple-double (everyone else in men’s Olympic basketball history has combined for two) and Durant hit a huge jump shot with 34 seconds left to keep Serbia at bay.

NBA superstars Curry, Durant and James will lead the team in their quest for a fifth consecutive gold medal.

“I mean, that’s what everyone wants, right?” said US guard Devin Booker. “It’s going to be a fun game.”

US guard Stephen Curry added: “I know it’s going to be a tough fight. That’s how it should be if you want to win a gold medal.”

The French, led by prodigy Victor Wembanyama, are seeking their first gold after settling for silver at the 1948, 2000 and 2020 Olympics, losing the final to the Americans in each of those tournaments. France edged world champions Germany 73-69 to advance to Saturday’s final. Play is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. CST.

James himself could win the third gold medal of his Olympic career on Saturday night when the United States faces France for the title in Paris. If that happens, he would become only the third male player to win at least three gold medals; Kevin Durant would have a record four gold medals if the United States wins, and James would tie Carmelo Anthony for second place on the all-time list with three Olympic titles.

“We know why we are here,” said James, who was one of the flag bearers alongside tennis star Coco Gauff and was tasked with leading the USA into the opening ceremony.

The game starts at 2:30 p.m. CST. You can watch it live on NBC 5 or stream it here.)
