The MTV Video Music Awards, which take place on Wednesday, September 11 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, have blessed us with some of the most shocking, unforgettable and bizarre red carpet looks of all time—from Lil Kim’s purple pastie and Pamela Anderson’s pink fur hat to Aaliyah’s animal-print Roberto Cavalli look and Lady Gaga’s meat dress. Unlike more formal red carpets like the Oscars or Golden Globes, there are no unspoken rules about what celebrities can and can’t do. So for people like us who love mess and chaos, it’s by far the most entertaining awards show of the year. Stay tuned (on Paramount+, YouTube TV or MTV.com) to see what the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards red carpet has in store.

Hottie Megan Thee Stallion will be hosting the show herself, following in the footsteps of last year’s host Nicki Minaj. The two aren’t on particularly good terms at the moment (read more here), which could make things interesting.

It’s too early to know, but this year’s nominees include Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Eminem, LISA, Olivia Rodrigo, Post Malone, Sabrina Carpenter and SZA. Chappell Roan is also nominated, along with our favorite collaborators Billie Eilish and Charli XCX – we hope all three show up!

A strong start with someone called Chippy (?) who literally has a chip on him. Multiple points for boldness, zero points for creativity.
