Spring blossoms, shade on a sunny summer day, fresh autumn colours – trees are the essence of our seasons and their growth is the measure of the passing of time.

The Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) recognizes the value of trees in the community and provides quality native trees and shrubs through the annual Native Tree and Shrub Fundraiser. Also new this year is a selection of native flowers and vines.

Over 40 tree and shrub species are available in 3-gallon containers for only $30 each. One-gallon flowers are $12.50. Preorders must be made by Sept. 19. Orders can be picked up in Noblesville on Friday, Sept. 27. For details on species and growing conditions and to order online, visit hamiltonswcd.org.

This tree sale focuses on species that are native to Indiana. These trees are uniquely adapted to Indiana soil and weather, but most importantly, they are uniquely suited to supporting native wildlife – especially birds, insects and other pollinators. 3-gallon trees are a great choice because they are easy to handle and plant, economical and fast growing. In addition to native trees, 15-gallon watering bags are also available at this year’s sale.

The tree sale is the county’s largest annual fundraiser, with all proceeds going to conservation and education in Hamilton County.
