The Abington Township Shade Tree Commission will host a free tree donation in October at 2595 Rubicam Avenue in Willow Grove.

On Saturday, October 26, between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., 300 native trees will be given away to the residents of Abington Township.

Registration links will be posted on the municipality’s website.

From the description of the giveaway:

You must be a resident of Abington Township to receive a tree.
Pre-registration is strongly recommended. Registering guarantees you the tree(s), but you MUST pick up your trees between 9:00am and 11:00am. Trees not picked up by 11:00am will be distributed on a first come, first served basis between 11:01am and 12:00pm.

Each household can bring up to two trees. If you bring two trees, one must be a shade tree.

Trees are delivered in 5-gallon containers and range in height from 3 to 8 feet. You must be able to take your trees home on the day of the award. Trees should fit in most vehicles. The Abington Shade Tree Commission provides planting and care instructions. Optional wildlife protection for the trees is offered.
