The regional Red Cross looks back on the work of the past year and plans for the next year
TUPELO, Mississippi (WCBI) – Red Cross staff, volunteers and donors took the opportunity to reflect on the work of the past year and make plans for the next year.
The North Mississippi Chapter of the American Red Cross held its annual meeting at the Tupelo Country Club.
Red Cross leaders discussed the year’s successes and business and recognized new board members.
The chapter also received some good news. It is expected to receive an emergency vehicle sometime in the next eight to ten months.
Leaders also recognized volunteers and donors from across the service area who have made a difference in their communities.
They also presented lifesaving awards to three Reed’s of Tupelo employees for applying skills learned in Red Cross cardiopulmonary resuscitation courses.
“In April, John Rush, a beloved long-time employee, suffered a heart attack and these three ladies immediately rushed to his aid, performed CPR and saved his life,” said KC Grist, executive director of the Northern Mississippi Chapter of the American Red Cross.
The North Mississippi Chapter of the American Red Cross covers 31 counties in the northern half of the state.
