The reason Hulk Hogan didn’t want to work with a WWE Hall of Famer

Eric Bischoff shed light on Hulk Hogan’s reluctance to team with fellow WWE Hall of Famer Vader during their time in WCW in the mid-1990s.

In an episode of his podcast “83 Weeks,” Bischoff explained that Hulk Hogan’s hesitation was due to Vader’s notoriously stiff work style, which made many wrestlers suspicious.

Hulk Hogan didn’t want to work with Vader because Vader was stiff. So, are we talking about the guy who broke someone’s back or burst Sting’s eardrums? Come on, Vader really worked stiff.

He stated that while Hogan was open to working with Vader, he wanted to make sure Vader approached their matches with a level head and didn’t overdo it with the physicality, which is not Hogan’s style. Bischoff further explained Hogan’s approach to wrestling, emphasizing that it was more character-driven than physically intense.

Hulk Hogan was a character. He wasn’t Mick Foley, who wanted to jump off balconies or throw himself off thumbtacks and end up with 65 stitches in his head. That wasn’t the kind of fight he wanted to have. He wanted to make sure the people he got in the ring with complemented the kind of fight he was best at.

What does Hulk Hogan believe broke WCW’s neck?

Hulk Hogan spoke about what he believes led to the downfall of WCW, namely that it was the merger of AOL and Time Warner, where there was no superior to advocate for keeping WCW programming on television, and that after the merger was completed, Eric Bischoff faced too much opposition to keep the company alive.
