‘The real reason’ why Amir Khan is selling his luxurious wedding venue for £12 million, while locals criticise: ‘He must have lost a fortune.’
AMIR Khan is selling his luxurious wedding venue after only a dozen weddings took place there, his neighbors claim.
The 37-year-old boxer has put his £11.5 million Bolton venue up for sale, just three months after hosting his first wedding there.

The spacious Dubai-style tower features glass walls, a waterfall and palm trees, as well as a helipad.
However, locals claim that the venue in Balmayna is in the wrong place: it is on a main road, right next to car repair shops, a kebab shop and terraced houses where rubbish is illegally dumped.
They claimed the huge venue was a flop.
Retired steelworker Bhoggi Patel, 66, said: “I have only seen one wedding there, which had a big fireworks display.
“It’s a flop and must have cost him a lot of money.
“We were all surprised that he built it here. I know it’s his hometown, but he could have chosen a nicer place for it.
“When you get married, you want to have a beautiful garden for your photo, and definitely not on a main road.
“I’m not surprised he’s selling. He must have lost a fortune.”
“Locals say that after a slow start, there have been an increase in weddings recently.”
Hijab Sayed, a 26-year-old customer service representative, said: “My house borders this street.
“I can smell the meat when it’s grilling and I can look inside.
“They cook the food outside and then bring it inside.
“There were about nine weddings last month, but before that I think there was only one.
“I’m not particularly surprised by the sale. He seems to spend most of his time in Dubai.”
“Maybe he lost interest and there wasn’t much going on.”
Omar Amirat, an 82-year-old retired textile worker who lives near the entrance, said: “At first there was only one wedding.
“But in the last few weeks it has picked up speed with some weddings.
“You see a lot of very expensive cars here.
“However, he hoped to sell other businesses there, such as shops and a conference center.

AMIR KHAN spent a whopping £12.5 million on his luxurious wedding venue in Bolton.
The boxing icon made the announcement about the “Dubai-style” venue via social media early Friday morning.
In his post, the 37-year-old said: “I want to sell my wedding hall for £12.5 million.
“The property has four floors, including three dedicated wedding floors and a rooftop event terrace.
“In addition, there are parking spaces at the front and rear for up to 200 vehicles.”
A follow-up tweet read: “I want to clarify that operations at Balmayna will continue without interruption, although I am in the process of selling the property.”
“Business is booming, there is significant demand for weddings and events and our calendar is quickly filling up with bookings through to 2026.
“All operations and reservations will continue as planned.”
The stunning venue, called The Balmayna, is located in Bolton opposite a car wash and a site where illegal rubbish was dumped, so by January there were only a few broken fridges and dirty mattresses left.
Khan once dreamed of hosting boxing events there, but now he seems keen to make that dream a reality after inviting interested parties to email him.

The father of five added: “I think it could be converted into a shopping centre or apartments.
“It’s really a shame that it didn’t work out.
“I just think it was a strange place to build such an expensive venue.”
Khan announced the shocking decision on social media.
He wrote on X: “I want to sell my wedding hall for £12.5 million.”

In January, broken refrigerators, sofas and dirty mattresses were dumped around the venue by illegal dumpers.
Mountains of household garbage lay scattered in the streets leading to the imposing building.
However, this was rectified and Balmayna opened in May, with the venue’s first couple celebrating their big day in style.
Videos showed guests being played violin music in front of palm trees and eating fruit canapés served to them by staff wearing bow ties.
The bride then arrived in a horse-drawn carriage and the groom in a Rolls Royce.
