The Raiders overrun the Browns and win 20:16

The Browns had several opportunities to gain a lead over the Raiders in the fourth quarter on Sunday afternoon in Las Vegas.

But Cleveland couldn’t capitalize on any of it, as Las Vegas cruised to a 20-16 win.

When the Raiders took a 20-10 lead midway through the third quarter, they appeared to have the game firmly in control. But early in the fourth quarter, the Browns managed a scoop-and-score after a Zamir White fumble. However, kicker Dustin Hopkins missed the extra point, leaving the deficit at four points.

That missed extra point played a big role late as Cleveland needed a touchdown. Midway through the fourth quarter, the Browns had an 82-yard touchdown pass from Deshaun Watson to Amari Cooper nullified by a penalty.

While the Browns managed to get downfield in the red zone at the end of the game, Watson was sacked on downs for a 10-yard loss on fourth-and-3 and a final turnover.

Cleveland’s defense stepped up late, but the team’s biggest problem was how it played the run. The Raiders entered Week 4 with 153 rushing yards in three games. The club finished Sunday at 152 against the Browns. Las Vegas would have had one more yard if Minshew hadn’t taken a knee to end the play.

The Raiders got creative to make an impact in the run game, with six different players taking a carry. Alexander Mattison led the team with 60 yards on five carries. Zamir White had 50 yards on 17 carries, an average of 2.9 yards per attempt. But DJ Turner caught one for an 18-yard touchdown, Tre Tucker had a 3-yard score on the ground. Even tight end Brock Bowers managed a 12-yard jet sweep.

Without Davante Adams, Gardner Minshew finished 14 of 24 for 130 yards. Jakobi Meyers led the team with five catches for 49 yards.

And even though Maxx Crosby didn’t play, the Raiders finished the game with three sacks and 11 quarterback hits.

Watson finished the game 24 of 32 for 176 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The pick was a drop from Cooper, who had the ball thrown directly to him.

Jerry Jeudy finished the game with six catches for 72 yards and Cooper had four receptions for 35 yards.

Myles Garrett recorded a pair of sacks and two more tackles for loss.

At 2-2, the Raiders will play division rival Broncos in Week 5.

The 1-3 Browns will be back on the road next Sunday to play the red-hot Commanders.
