Imagine you buy a home that is not part of an HOA and the neighborhood later becomes part of an HOA.

That’s exactly what happened in today’s story. After several complaints, a homeowner simply had to take revenge.

Let’s see how the story continues…

Many years ago I lived in a housing development where a homeowners association was formed 15 years after its completion.

Joining the HOA was therefore optional since it had not yet been established at the time of development.

I decided not to participate.

OP owned a truck, but the tire kept leaking.

I had a truck in my driveway that ran, but I rarely used it because I commuted to work and it used as much gas as Linda Lovelace.

Additionally, the tire had a slow leak, so I would have received an “inoperable vehicle” notice from the city as soon as the rim touched the concrete.

What was stupid from the start was that it was in MY driveway.

Code enforcement was just as upset as OP.

So I pumped up the tire and notified the city, and the notice was filed under “unfounded.”

After about the third or fourth time this happened, I called the building inspectorate and they were just as angry with the complainant as I was.

OP found out who was constantly complaining about the truck.

While they couldn’t tell me who filed the complaint, they gave enough hints that I knew who it was.

A neighbor whose BACK yard was adjacent to mine and who lived around the corner.

She didn’t even live on my street.

She was also the president of the new HOA.

OP found the perfect way to get revenge.

It also had an abandoned water feature/fountain whose water dried up after rain, providing a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

It was satisfying to make that call to the city and then see the well cleaned a few days later.

It was ridiculous that the HOA president would complain about a vehicle on non-HOA property.

Let’s see how Reddit reacted…

This reader jokes that revenge has given the HOA president a “new hobby.”

It was inappropriate for the HOA president to complain.

At least now she knows how it feels when someone complains about your property.
