The Oscar-winning film “Chicago” has just produced a new hit in the charts

More than 20 years have passed since the film Chicago was a worldwide success with both critics and at the box office. The famous Broadway show was finally made into a film in 2002 and thrilled audiences. Millions discovered the legendary film music, which is one of the most successful and popular in the history of musical theater.

Decades later Chicago Having earned millions at the box office and won several Oscars, the title continues to reach new viewers. This week, a song featured in the show reaches a Billboard and became a highly unlikely hit.

“We Both Reached for the Gun” lands in the TikTok Billboard Top 50, Billboard Ranking the most used tracks on TikTok. The song starts at number 48 on the 50 spots list, which focuses exclusively on which tracks perform best on the social media platform.

The song is not credited to the show or its composers. Instead, singers Christine Baranski, Cleve Asbury, Shaun Amyot, Rick Negron and Taye Diggs all score a hit on the TikTok Billboard Top 50. It appears to be the first win for all of these artists on the list.

“We Both Reached for the Gun” is a catchy song that serves an important purpose in Chicago. It is performed at the moment when the heroine Roxie Hart is presenting her case to the press to get away with the murder she committed. In the film, parts of the song are sung by Renée Zellweger and Richard Gere, in addition to the other names mentioned above.

Chicago produced a highly successful soundtrack that only enhanced the film’s overall performance. The set, packed with tunes from the original show as well as some new additions, peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200. It was eventually certified double platinum, having sold at least two million copies in the US alone.
