  • The series’ trend toward reversals, such as the rebuilding of the Razor Crest in The Mandalorian and Grogu, takes away from emotionally impactful moments.

Before we examine what exactly it was The Mandalorian and Groguwhich was both frustrating and captivating, it is worth outlining the trend of the show that is related to the earlier reaction. That trend is that The Mandalorian tends to reverse important moments, character arcs, and storylines. The Mandalorian‘S star Wars As the series progressed, plot twists became more frequent, some of which were also present in the most recent third season.

Over the show’s three seasons, such reversals have become frustratingly frequent.

As already indicated, this frustrating trend of reversal continues in The Mandalorian and Grogu. In the footage from D23, the Razor Crest, Mando’s old ship, was spotted. This caused some confusion since the Empire had blown up the Razor Crest. The Mandalorian Season 2, Episode 5. Afterwards, Din received an N1 starfighter as his main ship, which he used throughout the The Mandalorian Season 3.

However, In The Mandalorian and Groguthe Razor Crest is back. It’s likely explained that the shipwrights on Nevarro rebuilt Din’s Razor Crest as a token of appreciation for how much he’s helped the planet since the series began. Still, the annoying trend of big, emotional, character-changing moments being undone with little to no reason continues.

This Mandalorian trend ruins emotionally impactful moments

Moments of heightened emotions are diminished with each reversal

Why this trend is so frustrating is entirely related to the emotional impact of the show. Although some of the The MandalorianThe story’s revelations were trivial things, like the loss of the Beskar spear, others were tied to massive moments in the show’s history. The sacrifice of IG-11, for example, was one of the most emotional moments of The Mandalorian Season 1. It proved to Din that droids are more than just evil, mindless killers, and allowed a sympathetic character to make a sacrifice worthy of the series’ best. Bringing IG-11 back to life simply undoes that sacrifice and its consequences.

Likewise, Din gaining control of the Darksaber had major consequences for the story. Star Wars’ Bearers of the Darksaber have the right to rule all of Mandalore, and some believe this was the climax of Din’s story arc after he took possession of the weapon. One season later the Darksaber was given to Bo-Katan due to an illogical formality that Din lost the lightsaber when he was defeated by a crab droid creature beneath Mandalore, which Bo-Katan subsequently killed.

The entire story of the Darksaber has now been told, but many mysteries remain surrounding the legendary Mandalorian sword of command.

However, the undoubtedly most dramatic change in the entire series ironically happened in a completely different series. Grogu left the series with Luke Skywalker in TheThe Mandalorian The season two finale was overly emotional, led by an exceptional performance from Pedro Pascal. This moment promised a major status quo change for Din and Grogu in the future, but as The Mandalorian Season 3 came, the couple was reunited. This reunion took place in The Book of Boba Fettwhich had a negative impact on the quality of the show and The Mandalorian Season 3.

As for the Razor Crest, rebuilding the ship eases the sadness of its destruction. For Din, the Razor Crest was the only home he ever had. He lived on the ship and used it for both work and leisure, meaning that with its destruction, Din lost all of that. This made it a problem for him to find a home on Nevarro. The Mandalorian the finale of the third season all the more effective, as Razor Crest in The Mandalorian and Grogu makes this a bit pointless now.

Despite frustrations, the return of the Razor Crest makes sense

Given that the return of Razor Crest now brings this trend into double digits in terms of the frequency with which it appears in The Mandalorianthe frustration can become even greater. Nevertheless The return of the Razor Crest is one of the more logical U-turns Jon Favreau has madeThis is due to The Mandalorian the end of the third season, in particular that Din needed a larger ship than his N1 starfighter due to his promise to the New Republic.

Din will need a ship like the Razor Crest, which is in
The Mandalorian
Season 1 to simply hide his bounties…

The promise in question was Din’s vow to hunt down Imperial remnants in the Outer Rim. Without officially joining the New Republic Rangers, Din will protect the worlds of the Outer Rim from Imperials by tracking them down and bringing them to Carson Teva. To do this, Din will need a ship like the Razor Crest, which is in The Mandalorian Season 1 to simply hide his bounties. For this reason, the return of the Razor Crest is a logical course correction, even if The Mandalorian and Grogu continues the most frustrating trend of its franchise.
