CLEVELAND, Ohio — ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski has released his latest major breaking news story. This time, it’s about himself.
Wednesday morning, the long-standing NBA newsbreaker posted on X, formerly known as Twitterthat he will leave the journalism industry and accept a position as general manager of the men’s basketball program at his alma mater, St. Bonaventure.
“I understand the commitment my role requires, and it is an investment I am no longer forced to make. Time is finite, and I want to spend it in ways that are more meaningful to me personally,” Wojnarowski, 55, wrote. “I leave with overwhelming gratitude for countless mentors and colleagues, subjects and stories, readers and viewers. No one has benefited more than I have from the faith, trust and generosity of others.”
Wojnarowski first made a name for himself at Yahoo Sports in 2007 before moving to ESPN in 2017.
He became so famous for breaking NBA stories that the term “Woj Bomb” was coined for every time he broke a major NBA story.
Remarkably, the last of his Woj bombs came on September 14, when he first reported that The Cavs and Isaac Okoro agreed to a three-year contract worth $38 million.
Okoro responded to the news with a shout-out to Wojnarowski on social media.
Wojnarowski graduated from St. Bonaventure in 1991.
