A guest of the Antiques Roadshow recently learned that his grandparents owned a valuable bronze lamp.

The lamp is shaped like a model of an ornate building and offers little space for the light.

But despite its limited functionality, its quality and materials make it worth about $1,000.

THE LAMP

When a man brought the lamp over, he said it had been lying in a box for a long time.

It comes from the 1933 World’s Fair in Chicago.

He said it was a wedding or anniversary gift that he inherited.

It appears to be a model of a mosque with a praying figure.

The expert said it was a Viennese bronze lamp.

“You have the biggest one I’ve ever seen,” he said.

He said the lamp was painted with oil, which is unusual for bronze figures.

I inherited a “frog bowl” from my grandparents and was amazed when Antiques Roadshow said it was worth $5,000

“When you’re at the top of a particular market, the market is generally very strong,” he said. “So when you have a piece like this that is so massive and has such a big presence, it’s going to bring the highest price.”

It’s worth about $10,000.

The shocked owner said: “This is phenomenal.”

It is unclear whether he ultimately sold the lamp.
