The hypocrite MTG is now demanding hurricane relief funds that it tried to block

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is imploring the federal government to urgently “send the funds” to help the American Southeast recover after Hurricane Helene, even though she herself stood in the way of emergency relief funds just last week.

“The storm was supposed to go right over my district, but as it came through Georgia it moved east and it was mostly a lot of rain,” Greene told Real America’s Voice’s Terrance Bates. “When we return to Washington, we will work hard to ensure states like Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and North Carolina receive the funding they need.”

Greene was one of 82 Republicans who voted last week against a continued resolution to maintain funding for the government. Had she succeeded, the government would have been in shutdown mode from Tuesday, preventing any region from receiving crucial aid.

“We have already signed one letterGreene said to Bates. “We sent this letter to Joe Biden asking for relief, which Brian Kemp, our governor, has already requested. Therefore, our entire delegation to Georgia signed this letter.”

“We need them to step in and send the funds and help these people deserve,” she added.

But Greene’s public demands ring a little hollow. During the storm, she was seen happily attending a football game with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, while Kemp revealed earlier on Monday that President Joe Biden had done so called him on weekends to assess the state’s needs.

Greene also used the opportunity to push back against the Biden administration, even as he simultaneously lobbied the executive branch for federal aid.

“President Trump is a man of action,” she told the right-wing network. “We don’t need a sleepy Joe in the White House. We don’t need Kamala Harris supporting them.”
