“The Holdovers” star Dominic Sessa to play lead role in Anthony Bourdain biopic

The life of Anthony Bourdain is brought to the big screen.

Dominic Sessa, who starred in Alexander Payne’s The remainswill play the popular icon of the food world in a feature film from New York studio A24 and King Richard Outfit from Star Thrower Entertainment.

Matt Johnson, who is behind the well-received blackberry The film will be directed by Todd Bartels and Lou Howe from a screenplay.

A24 is in negotiations with Trevor White and Tim White under Star Thrower to produce. Johnson and Matthew Miller would also produce, with Emily Rose set to serve as executive producer. A24 and Star Thrower recently wrapped filming on “The 4000.” Eternity, with Miles Teller and Elizabeth Olsen.

Sessa is repped by CAA, Untitled and Hansen Jacobson; Johnson is repped by CAA and Akin Gump; Miller is repped by CAA and Akin Gump.

Bourdain became known as a chronicler of the New York rock and roll restaurant scene with his memoirs Kitchen confidential. He then became the face of global travel and food with his series No reservations, which ran for eight seasons on the Travel Channel and then Parts unknown on CNN, which he hosted until his death in 2018.

Kitchen confidential was produced as a television series in 2005, starring Bradley Cooper as Bourdain’s replacement. More recently, Bourdain’s life was the subject of the 2021 documentary Roadrunner.
