The Saints are arguably the hottest topic in the NFL right now. They made an impression after their win over the Cowboys in Week 2. Derek Carr looks to be in top form, and the defense is in the top 10 in almost every pass and rush defense category according to NFL Pro. The Eagles lost in heartbreaking fashion on Monday Night Football last week due to a questionable play and a dropped pass, despite a great performance by Jalen injured. The defense still has some work to do before it can face the Saints’ strong offense, but for the most part the offense has been very solid.

Carr has completed 11 of 16 downfield pass attempts (10+ air yards) for 292 yards this season, including four touchdowns and one interception. Carr’s 68.8% downfield pass completion rate is his best since 2016, while also posting a +21.3% completion rate above expected (CPOE). So far Rashid Shaheed was Carr’s favorite target when it came to shooting the ball forward. He caught three of his five passes downfield, achieving 146 yards and two touchdowns.
The Eagles defense has allowed 297 passing yards on downfield attempts in 2024, the second most in the NFL. Eagles Cornerback Quinyon Mitchell is currently tied for the second most downfield targets this season (eight) and has allowed three completions for 71 yards. Kill Darius was targeted twice on attempts further down the field and was caught on both passes for a total of 30 yards.
