In brief

  • According to reports, a HUAWEI executive has confirmed that the first foldable phone with three screens and two folds will launch next month.
  • The device will apparently have a 10-inch screen that can be folded twice to form a smartphone.

We’ve already seen concepts for triple-screen, dual-folding devices from Samsung (above) and TCL, but leaks suggest that HUAWEI could be the first brand to offer a foldable phone like this. In fact, a senior executive from the company was even pictured with the device twice. Now it seems the same executive has confirmed a September launch.

According to a well-known Chinese tech outlet My driversConsumer group CEO Richard Yu attended a car launch and personally handed over new vehicles to owners. One of the owners asked Yu when they could buy the bi-folding car, and the executive confirmed it would be available next month.

We’ve asked HUAWEI about Yu’s alleged statement and will update the article accordingly. Still, we hope to see this triple-display foldable in some form outside of China, even if integration with Google isn’t possible due to US sanctions. After all, this would be the first commercially available foldable phone with two foldable screens.

The news also comes after Yu was photographed with the supposed device on two separate occasions (see above). The images do indeed appear to show a foldable device with a bi-fold and a thinner-than-expected form factor when folded.

Leaks suggest that the HUAWEI device will offer a 10-inch screen when unfolded, far surpassing the 7.6- to 8-inch screens of traditional foldable phones today. So if you thought the screens on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold weren’t big enough, this is the device to keep an eye on.
