The Georgia football team wasted no time on Saturday, defeating the Golden Eagles 48-3 against Tennessee Tech in a slightly shortened game.

The Bulldogs got off to a good start, coming into the game with two consecutive scoring drives. The first drive lasted six seconds when Carson Beck was able to find Dillon Bell in the left corner of the end zone, and they had a 23-second drive in the third quarter that ended with a score by Lawson Luckie.

Dominic Lovett and Arian Smith also scored a touchdown each, with Georgia’s offense recording 28 pass catches for a total of 332 yards. Carson Beck completed 18 of 25 passes for 242 yards and Branson Robinson scored the only rushing and final touchdown.

Beck set the school record for most touchdown passes in a game with five when he came off the bench for Gunner Stockton. Beck is the eighth quarterback to do so, joining Stetson Bennett, who last did it in 2021 against UAB.

The Bulldogs played their first home game today at Sanford Stadium, which is expected to sell out to 93,033 fans after the completion of $68.5 million renovations.

Kirby Smart’s influence on his Beck-led team is evident when players talk about their attitude before games.

Even though the opponent is Tennessee Tech, an FCS program that is expected to finish seventh in the nine-team Big South OVC.

“It’s really the same vibe every week,” Georgia inside linebacker Raylen Wilson said. “We go in there ready to beat somebody for four quarters. We don’t really look at the team we’re playing against. It’s really about us being better than we were last week.”

Georgia was able to rely on several newcomers making their home debuts last week, including freshman safety KJ Bolden, freshman running back Nate Frazier and transfer wide receivers Colbie Young and London Humphreys.

Georgia (2-0) wins its first home game against Tennessee Tech 48-3 after Peyton Woodring made a 32-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs travel to Kentucky (1-0) next Saturday, Sept. 13, for a night game on ABC at 7:30 p.m. This will be the Bulldogs’ first SEC game, and former UGA quarterback Brock Vandagriff will play on the other side.

The Golden Eagles are now 0-3 overall against the Bulldogs after scoring their first points against them in today’s game.

Tennessee Tech scored its first points against Georgia with a 32-yard field goal in the final seconds of the game. The teams have met twice before: UGA won 67-0 in 1943 and 38-0 in 2009.

Georgia football’s Branson Robinson rushed up the middle and gained 13 yards for UGA’s first rushing touchdown of the afternoon. The Bulldogs led 45-0 with 6:46 left in the third quarter.

The Georgia football team put together another quick drive, a 27-yard, 23-second play that ended with a 37-yard pass from Carson Beck to Lawson Luckie in the end zone.

Beck has set the school record for most touchdown passes in a game. He currently has completed 18 of 25 passes for 242 yards and five touchdowns. He is the eighth quarterback to reach that mark, following Stetson Bennett, who last achieved it in 2021 against UAB.

Carson Beck threw a 50-yard pass to Arian Smith at Tennessee Tech’s 11-yard line, and Smith stumbled into the end zone for another seven points. The Bulldogs led 31-0 with 12:54 left in the third quarter.

Carson Beck found Dominic Lovett on a 10-yard pass to the right for another touchdown for Georgia. The Bulldogs lead 24-0 with one minute left in the half.

Georgia got to the 10-yard line after a long drive, but was able to prevent an offside from Tennessee Tech after a miscue and scored a 27-yard field goal by Peyton Woodring in the second quarter for a 17-0 lead.

Georgia outscored Tennessee Tech 123-12 and leads 14-0 after the first quarter. Carson Beck is 11 of 11 for 116 yards and two touchdowns.

Colbie Young now has two touchdowns in two games. The wide receiver, who transferred from Miami, had a clear path and scored a 6-yard touchdown. Georgia leads 14-0 after a 7-play, 58-yard drive.

A 46-yard punt return gave Georgia excellent field position. Carson Beck scored on the first offensive play for a 22-yard touchdown run by Dillon Bell. Georgia led 7-0.

Defensive lineman Warren Brinson (ankle/hamstring) is dressed but not moving at full speed. He is lined up with the third-team players. As expected, running back Roderick Robinson (on a scooter with a right toe injury) and defensive linemen Xzavier McCleod (unknown) and Jordan Hall (legs) and offensive lineman Marcus Harrison (right foot) are out. So is defensive back Kyren Jones, who has a left leg injury and is also using a scooter.

Running back Trevor Etienne, who was suspended for the first game following his DUI arrest in the offseason, warms up again before the game. It seems more likely that he will play this week, especially since he was announced as the starter. Here’s a look at Etienne.

Georgia nickelback Joenel Aguero is dressed on the field, practicing with the other defensive backs. He missed last week’s game with what Kirby Smart called a soft tissue injury.

Claude Felton, who retired after 40 years as Georgia’s sports information director, was featured on ESPN’s College GameDay as his name is on the new press box along with the late legendary tennis coach and SID Dan Magill.

Felton is recognized on the field during the game.

Georgia Bulldogs defensive end/outside linebacker Mykel Williams just walked behind the end zone and into the locker room with a walking boot on his left foot after sustaining an ankle injury during the game against Clemson.

Last week’s Georgia-Clemson game featured an ACC team of referees. This time, it’s an SEC team with Marc Curles as the referee. Curles is a veteran referee who officiated when AJ Green was given a penalty after a touchdown in a home loss to LSU in 2009 for “making a gesture toward the crowd to draw attention to himself.” Times have changed.
