Chris Renaudthe director of Despicable Me 4has expressed his reluctance to adapt the popular animated franchise into a live-action format. After watching the first two parts of the Despicable Me franchise and returned for the fourth installment. Renaud was a key figure in shaping the series. He also served as a producer for 2015 Minions and 2022 Minions – In search of the mini boss.

In a recent interview with Film Hounds magazine, Renaud was asked about the possibility of a live-action adaptation of “Minions.” His answer was prompt and clear.

Explaining his point of view, Renaud explained that certain stories and scenes are best told through a single medium and it is often better to stick with that medium to preserve the essence of the narrative.

“I mean, if there were talks (about live-action remakes), I wasn’t privy to them. But to me, what makes the world is that it’s animated and allows us to get away with what we’re allowed to do. Like locking a minion in the vending machine or blowing up Gru when he attacks Vector (voice: Jason Segel). These are really cartoon ideas, like they would have been in a Bugs Bunny cartoon.

I think it’s just going to be something completely different if you do a live-action version. Not very appealing to me personally. But again, who knows what can happen, but that’s my personal feeling about it.”

This opinion is also shared by Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter. In previous interviews, Docter has stated that films like Ratatouille And High Due to their unique narrative, creative concepts and visual style, it would be a challenge to adapt them into a live-action project.

Disney’s success with live-action films

It goes without saying that the magic of animation lies in its ability to create worlds and characters that are not bound by the boundaries of reality. Despite this fact, and despite the challenges associated with live-action adaptations, Disney has achieved considerable success in this field. Films such as The Lion King, AladdinAnd Beauty and the Beast have been reinterpreted in live-action formats. Upcoming films that hope to continue this trend include Snow White And Vaiana – The wonderful world of love.
