The debate is over: Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is WNBA rookie of the year

Let the debate end. According to a report from Shams Charania, Caitlin Clark is the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year.

She is the second consecutive Fever player to win ROTY, as Aliyah Boston took home the award unanimously in 2023.

The Rookie Fever star, selected No. 1 in the 2024 draft, has lived up to sky-high expectations this season. After a 1-8 start, she helped Indiana to a 20-20 regular season and its first playoff berth in eight years.

Additionally, the Indiana Fever star has broken too many rookie records to get away with it. But here are the headliners:

∎ She broke the rookie scoring record (769) and set a single-season points record for the Fever franchise

∎ She broke the rookie and league-wide assists records in a single season (337).

∎ She broke the rookie 3-point record (122).

∎ She was the first WNBA rookie to record a triple-double. And did it twice.

In addition to the rookie records, she also broke the WNBA record for single-season and single-game assists (19). Her franchise record of 769 points narrowly surpassed her teammate Kelsey Mitchell, who scored 767 points this season.

On Sunday. The Fever rookie star was named All-WNBA First Team and was unanimously named WNBA Rookie of the Year by a 15-member Associated Press panel. It was the second straight year for a Fever AP Rookie of the Year winner, joining 2023 No. 1 pick Aliyah Boston. Clark also finished fourth in MVP voting, behind only A’Ja Wilson, Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart.

Clark averaged 19.2 points (seventh in the league), 8.4 assists (first) and 5.7 rebounds. She is the first player in league history to lead the league in assists and finish in the top 10 scorers in the same season.
