The Commanders’ victory over the Bengals is marked by a breathtaking statistic

On Monday night, Jayden Daniels showed why the Washington Commanders believe they have found their future franchise quarterback.

The Heisman Trophy winner had the best day of his young NFL career in a 38-33 win over the Bengals in Cincinnati. Daniels, the No. 2 pick in this year’s draft, finished the night with two passing touchdowns and used his legs to score another point.

The former LSU star also completed 21 of 23 passes. His 91.3% passing percentage set the league’s rookie record. Washington improved to 2-1 on Monday, while the Bengals surprisingly slipped to 0-3.

Aside from Daniel’s impressive stats, the Commanders’ game against the Bengals was also marked by a rather unusual lack of participation from both teams’ punting units.

SUPER BOWL CHAMPION IS SICK OF JOE BURROW’S EXCUSES: “YOU HAVE NO WIN”

According to data compiled by the Elias Sports Bureau, Monday night’s game was the first in the Super Bowl era that an NFL game ended without either team committing a punt or losing the ball.

Washington’s offense was efficient throughout the game, which helped the Commanders avoid situations where they had to kick the ball to the opposing team.

The Commanders scored a point on every possession except for kneeldowns at the end of each half, and they have neither punted nor lost the ball in their last two games.

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow also had a strong performance, throwing for a season-best 324 yards and three scores. However, the Bengals just couldn’t keep up. Cincinnati is off to its worst start since losing its first 11 games in 2019 and finishing 2-14.
