The first official trailer for Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story was released last month and the review embargo has now been lifted ahead of its theatrical debut next week.

With 22 reviews so far, the first film to be released under the DC Studios banner currently sits at a perfect 100% on Rotten tomatoes.

Led by McQueen Directed by filmmakers Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, the documentary focuses on the extraordinary life and career of the legendary actor, who is still widely regarded as our best interpretation of the Man of Steel for the big (or small) screen yet.

Reeve played Clarke Kent/Superman in four films and his performances remain just as influential and inspirational today. The actor appeared in numerous other films after hanging up his cape before suffering a fateful injury in a near-fatal horse riding accident in 1995 that left him paralyzed from the neck down.

After his accident, Reeve became a tireless activist in the search for a cure for spinal cord injuries and a passionate advocate for the rights and care of the disabled – all while continuing his film career in front of and behind the camera.

“It’s a gift. We are so lucky.” Reeves’ son Matthew told diversity in a recent interview. “Not only can we watch his films, but we can also dig up and go through a collection of home videos and look up interviews of his on YouTube. Seeing things I hadn’t seen before didn’t change my perception of him, it enhanced it… like a rare Australian interview from 1977 that was uploaded that I didn’t know about. It was pretty cool to see that and discover a lot more material than we knew about.”

Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story The Last Man is scheduled to premiere in the US on Saturday, September 21st, with repeat screenings on September 25th, Reeves’ birthday. Fans in the UK can see the film in theatres on November 1st.
