BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Every week during the 2024 season, we will air The Chris Hatcher Show. Hosted this season by Kevin Blackwell and featuring head coach Chris Hatcher, the show will look back at the previous week’s football game and look ahead to the upcoming contest.
In the 2024 season opener, Samford lost a 38-29 game to the West Georgia Wolves in Carrollton. In the loss Quincy Crittendon was only the second quarterback in the Hatcher era to throw for 300 yards and rush for 90 yards in the same game. He was selected as a preseason All-American on defense. Noah Martin recorded 11 tackles, the most of the game.
Saturday’s contest is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. CT in Gainesville, Florida, and will be streamed on ESPN+ and SEC Network+. Clay Matvick and Steve Addazio will be on the call.
Samford and Florida will meet for the fourth time in program history and the first since the 70-52 shootout in 2021. Before 2021, the two teams had not played each other in 99 years, having previously faced each other in back-to-back seasons in 1921 and 1922.
