star Wars has officially cancelled The Acolytewhich raises the question of what the future of star Wars This is what the TV shows on Disney+ will look like. The Acolyte was the latest addition to star Wars movies and TV shows, and many expected a second season to be announced any day now. While the show certainly attracted considerable criticism, controversy, and even review bombing, many enjoyed it.

Over and beyond, The Acolytes Showrunner Leslye Headland has repeatedly hinted at a second season in interviews, and the franchise itself has made several references to “The Acolyte Season 1, which suggests that Season 2 would come. In truth The Acolyte was not generally considered one of the Star Wars’ best TV shows, but it was still a surprise that star Wars confirmed that the series will not return for a second season. The future of star Wars TV shows seem unclear.

Will there be a second season of The Acolyte and if so, what’s next for this ultimate Star Wars prequel? Here’s everything we know so far!

Lucasfilm has reduced its TV production

star Wars has produced some truly brilliant television shows in recent years. While The Book of Boba Fett was not generally well received, The Mandalorian And Andor have both become popular in the franchise and Ahsoka And Obi-Wan Kenobi both were received with great fanfare. Ahsoka And Obi-Wan Kenobi were particularly exciting for star Wars Viewers because they welcomed the return of Anakin Skywalker actor Hayden Christensen and Obi-Wan Kenobi actor Ewan McGregor to the star Wars Screen.

Despite it, Lucasfilm’s TV show production definitely seems to be slowing downThis year, the franchise will only release two live-action TV shows: The Acolyte And Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. It is clear, The Acolyte was received with mixed reactions, to say the least. Skeleton Crew is next, and it’s unclear how the show will fare. Skeleton Crew The trailer shows promise, with brand new characters and a unique coming-of-age story featuring a mysterious Jedi, but some are already voicing their concerns.

Next year things look even worse for Star Wars live-action shows

In 2025 Andor Season 2 is the only confirmed live-action TV show under Star Wars’ upcoming TV shows. Ahsoka Season 2 is also in the works, but its release date is currently unknown. With The Acolyte will not be renewed for a second season, and The Mandalorian Season 4 is still a question mark, it is not clear what comes next for Star Wars’ Live-action TV shows afterwards Andor And Ahsoka.

In 2025
Andor
Season 2 is the only confirmed release of a live-action television series.

Presumably, Lucasfilm could have any number of projects in the works, but if there are live-action TV shows that haven’t been announced yet, a 2025 release date seems rather unlikely. If another live-action TV show is to be released in 2025, filming would have to begin very soon. This could prove particularly problematic for Star Wars’ next year, as Andor Season 2 is expected to premiere early this year. This could mean a very quiet 2025 for star Wars television shows.

Star Wars Animation also has no news

Of course, live-action TV shows are not the only options for Star Wars’ upcoming TV shows. Animated series have proven extremely popular in the franchise; Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars RebelsAnd Star Wars: The Bad Batch are all clear evidence of this. However, it is confirmed that each of these shows has ended, and star Wars has not yet announced any new animated series.

There are some new and upcoming animated star Wars shows, but they are not exactly the kind of star Wars Shows that attract a lot of attention. Star Wars: The Adventures of Young Jedi Season 2 was recently released, but is aimed at a much younger audience. LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy is also coming next month, but this is a non-canonical four-part miniseries, which again is far from Rebels And The bad batch.

Outside of these two projects, it is unclear what animated star Wars Shows. This is particularly surprising considering the expected projects. In fact, Asajj Ventress’ return in The bad batch Season 3 saw the announcement that Ventress would appear in an upcoming star Wars project. Since Ventress has only appeared in animated series, many assumed that this would be a new animated TV series – perhaps even starring Ventress. However, no such announcement has been made so far.

After D23, we really shouldn’t have so many Star Wars questions

Followed The Acolytes Finale it was clear that star Wars was in a somewhat quiet phase. Even though smaller publications such as Adventures of young Jedi And Rebuild the galaxy came, the franchise seemed to be revealing something much more significant, and D23 2024 seemed like the perfect setting for a big announcement. Shockingly, very little star Wars News was revealed at D23 this year.

The largest star Wars Revealed at D23 was the first trailer for Skeleton Crewwhich has been long awaited. In truth, nothing brand new or surprising was announced, which seemed like a huge missed opportunity for the franchise. Unfortunately, this could mean that star Wars isn’t sure what it’s going to do next, at least not with TV shows.

Star Wars just missed a huge D23 opportunity and I can’t understand why

D23 2024 ended without many announcements about upcoming Star Wars movies and TV shows, and I’m still trying to figure out why.

The Mandalorian and Grogu Film and Rey’s new star Wars Film, rumored to be titled Star Wars: New Jedi Orderare confirmed and there are a number of other upcoming star Wars Movies that are expected. In terms of shows, however, it is really only Andor Season 2 and Ahsoka Season 2 at this point. This could really mean that Lucasfilm is seriously considering star Wars TV showsespecially live-action television shows.

star Wars
Television shows have been an incredible addition to the franchise.

While some cheer The Acolyte Cancellation, that is not good news for the franchise or the fan base. For one thing, it is a bit strange to be excited about a franchise releasing less content. For another, star Wars Television shows have been an incredible addition to the franchise. Some of Star Wars’ most popular characters, from Ahsoka to Din Djarin to Grogu, would not exist without star Wars When Lucasfilm starts pulling back from shows, so many opportunities are missed and new star Wars Publications will be much less frequent and at longer intervals.

Maybe Lucasfilm has a series of star Wars Shows, animated and others that just haven’t been announced yet. You could wait until star Wars Celebration 2025. However, it looks more and more like star Wars could withdraw from live-action TV shows, in which case The Acolytes The cancellation may be just the tip of the iceberg.
