The bride’s religious parents refused to attend the wedding, but she was still surprised with a “father-daughter dance”

A wedding is an unforgettable moment for every person. It is a day when people promise their partner “forever” in front of friends and family. Unfortunately, some people cannot be with their family on such a special event because they prefer to follow their hearts. A study published in the Journal of Family Psychology found that 70% of the LGBTQIA+ community face parental rejection.

These people are often separated from their parents because they choose to love whoever they want. Megan found herself in a similar situation when she married the love of her life, Brittanny, but her parents didn’t want to go with her because of their religious background. Luckily, her siblings took the initiative and threw Megan an unforgettable father-daughter dance. Megan’s brother Zach Luke – who goes by @zach.luke on the platform – uploaded the entire dance to TikTok, which received over 3 million views in a matter of days.

The video started with Megan and Brittany dancing their first dance as newlyweds. They both looked absolutely gorgeous and completely in love as they danced in each other’s arms. As people emptied the dance floor, Megan’s siblings gave her a big surprise in the form of a “father-daughter dance”. They chose “The Village” by Wrabel for the occasion. As explained in Genius, this song is about the isolation that the queer community faces when they choose to live the way they want. It inspires them to continue on their path as the problem is not with them but with others who reject their identity.

Kelly, the oldest of them all, was the first to pull her little sister in to dance. After she finished her routine, she handed Megan over to Luke. During her dance, the entire room erupted in applause. Next was Alex, her youngest brother. At this point, there was not a dry eye in the room. Everyone who witnessed this emotional moment of solidarity and support could not hold back their tears. The last person in line was Robin, Megan’s new mother-in-law. They hugged each other tightly throughout the dance. It meant that she would be part of a family that welcomed her with open arms.

At the end of the video, Luke expressed his feelings by writing in the overlay text, “We are so proud of you, Megan. You and Brittany are perfect for each other. Kelly, Alex and I are so lucky to have you as our sister.” The video also reached Wrabel, who was thrilled to be part of such a meaningful moment. He congratulated the couple on their wedding.

Comments couldn’t contain their emotions after the beautiful dance. @dgot_game1 praised the siblings for being there for their sister, writing, “You don’t know how much we need the VILLAGE when our parents ‘disagree’. Thank you for being there for your sister.” Megan (@meganbaltus) also shared her thoughts on the gesture, commenting, “I have the best siblings ever. Thank you for being there for me and giving me another amazing memory of this incredible day.”
