“The Bachelorette” promises an emotional finale of the season for a former Pitt student

Fans of “The Bachelorette” will find out how season 21 ends on Tuesday night after watching Jenn Tran search for love all summer long.

The three-hour finale will air on ABC starting at 8 p.m. The show will then be available to stream on Hulu on Wednesday. Viewers can also catch up on episodes before the finale on other streaming platforms, Rolling Stone reported.

Tran, 26, who is studying to be a physician’s assistant, first appeared on Joey Graziadei’s season of “The Bachelor” before being chosen as the series’ next star. She is the first Asian-American “Bachelorette” in the show’s 22-year history.

Tran attended the University of Pittsburgh from 2016 to 2018 and was a member of the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, the American Medical Students Association and Student Emergency Medical Services, according to her LinkedIn profile. She transferred to the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2018 and graduated two years later.

“Tran is a sweet and compassionate woman who has dedicated her life to helping others,” Tran’s “Bachelorette” bio on ABC’s website reads. “The bilingual Vietnamese beauty currently lives in Miami and is ready to find love with a man who is as dependable and thoughtful as she is.”

She said she felt “a lot of pressure” to be the first Asian-American Bachelorette, adding that her induction was a “quite historic moment,” according to USA Today.

“This is a moment that a lot of people have been waiting for,” Tran told USA Today. “And it means a lot to us because we’re working toward change.”

Tuesday’s finale will also include the show’s traditional segment “After the Final Rose,” a post-show discussion with Tran.

Last week, fans were treated to a double bill – new episodes of the show aired on both Monday and Tuesday, including the episode “Men Tell All.” Fourteen of Tran’s original 25 suitors answered questions and explained the season in front of a live audience, USA Today reported.

ABC News reported that there was an “audible gasp” in the live audience after Tran sent 28-year-old Jonathon Johnson home last week.

“I didn’t expect such a big reaction when we sent Jonathon home, but I wasn’t surprised because he really is such a great guy and has such a good, good heart,” she told ABC News.

ABC News reported that Tran promised an “unprecedented ending” for this season of “Bachelorette.”

“I would say it’s a very emotional story with a lot of twists and surprises,” Tran said in an interview with the broadcaster.

The remaining two candidates are Devin Strader and Marcus Shoberg. Strader, 28, is a trucking company owner from Houston and Shoberg, 31, is an Army Ranger veteran from Raleigh, NC, USA Today reported.

“It’s a pivotal week in Hawaii as Jenn’s search for true love comes to an end,” ABC said of the final episode, which airs Tuesday night, USA Today reported. “Torn between two men, Jenn seeks advice from her family and friends on a decision that will forever shape her future.”
