ELK GROVE – A few weeks after the first Amazon Fresh store opened in Northern California, the grand opening of another location is scheduled for Thursday.

The Amazon Fresh store in Elk Grove finally opens its doors at 8 a.m.

The grocery store is located near Elk Grove Boulevard and Bruceville Road in the Ridge Shopping Center.

The store’s opening will be celebrated with a ceremonial ribbon cutting, and expected giveaways include free Amazon gift cards.

Some people have been queuing outside since Wednesday evening.

“We were just chilling,” said Christian Mamaradlo, an Elk Grove resident. “We’re happy to have won some things.”

In August, the Amazon Fresh store opened in Roseville. It was the first Amazon Fresh grocery store in Northern California.

The Ridge Shopping Center is also home to a Costco, Nordstrom Rack and numerous restaurants such as Buffalo Wild Wings and Olive Garden.
