The five most important players for the Fantasy Premier League 2024/25, Gameweek 6

FPL headliner: Ollie Watkins (ips)

Watkins scored his third goal of the season against Wolves last weekend and, as the following image from our Opta Stats Sandbox feature shows, among strikers over the first five gameweeks he is only behind Haaland (24) in shots in the box (13), ‘big chances’ (10 vs. 9) and ‘expected goals’ (xG) (5.55 vs. 4.74).

Villa have scored 10 goals, only Chelsea (11) and Manchester City (13) have scored more goals. They are second in big chances created (20), only Liverpool (21) have more chances to score.

Their hosts Ipswich have conceded eight goals (13th) and only kept one clean sheet. The promoted team is ranked 19th in terms of Expected Goals Conceded (xGC) (11.31), only Everton (11.34) is doing worse. Our Predicted Points & Stats tool currently predicts a score of 5.4 for Watkins.

Top FPL Premium: Bukayo Saka (LEI)

Saka has scored an FPL haul (one goal, five assists) in every appearance this season, with only Palmer (36), Salah (49) and Diaz (51) scoring more FPL points than his 35 among midfielders. He also ranks third for shots on target (seven) and Expected Assists (xA) (2.23). As the image below from our Opta Player Heatmaps feature shows, he averaged 6.3 FPL points per game in home games last season.

Arsenal have scored eight goals (sixth place) but have played two games with ten men following red cards against Brighton and Manchester City. Despite this, they are still ninth in terms of ‘big chances’ (13).

Their visitors from Leicester have conceded eight goals (13th) and are yet to concede a goal. The Foxes are 19th in shots allowed in the penalty area (62) and 12th in xGC (8.97). Our Predicted Points & Stats tool currently predicts a score of 7.0 for Saka.

Form FPL striker: Nicolas Jackson (BHA)

Jackson delivered for his supporters with an FPL haul of 16 points against West Ham, the Senegalese international is only behind Cunha (14) and Haaland (26) in shots on goal among strikers and is third in xG (3.09) and big chances (six). As the following image from our transfer analysis feature shows, he is currently the fourth most transferred player this week.

Chelsea are second in goals scored (11) and seventh in big chances created (15).

Their visitors Brighton have conceded four goals (third) and kept two clean sheets. The Seagulls are third in shots allowed (41) and sixth in xGC (5.73). Our Predicted Points & Stats tool currently predicts a score of 4.0 for Jackson.

Best cheap midfielder: Antoine Semenyo (SOU)

Semenyo’s total of 24 shots is the highest among midfielders; only B. Johnson (15) and Salah (16) attempted more shots in the box than him with 14. As the following image from our Opta Stats Sandbox feature shows, he also ranks second in xG (2.64), only Luis Diaz (3.75) is better.

Bournemouth have only scored five goals (12) but their underlying numbers are very strong, with only Spurs (86) and Man. City (99) having had more shots than their 84. They are fourth in xG (10.16).

Their opponents Southampton have conceded nine goals, with only Everton and Wolves (14 each) doing worse. The Saints are 15th in shots conceded (79) and xGC (10.20). Our Predicted Points & Stats tool currently predicts a score of 5.0 for Semenyo.

Top FPL defender: Gabriel Magalhães (LEI)

Gabriel is currently the best FPL defender with 36 points. Last season he only scored three times, but this season he has already scored twice. No defender has a higher xG (1.44) than the Brazilian international.

Clean Sheet Probability Gameweek 6 Fantasy Premier League 2024/25

Arsenal have only conceded three goals, only Liverpool (one) have been more frugal. The Merseyside team are the only team to have kept more clean sheets (four) than the Gunners (three).

Their visitors from Leicester have scored just six goals (10th) and are 19th in terms of shots on goal in the penalty area (32). Our Predicted Points & Stats tool currently predicts a 60 percent chance of Arsenal keeping a clean sheet and a score of 5.4 for Gabriel.
