Just minutes before Texas A&M faces McNeese State in Week 2 of the 2024 college football season, several players will not suit up for the game while one of head coach Mike Elko’s key transfer signings will make his first appearance this season.
Before the 11:45 a.m. kickoff, it was reported that former Troy wide receiver Jabre Barber will be in full gear for pregame warmups. The senior is expected to be on the field after missing most of the offseason due to injury.
On Wednesday, head coach Mike Elko announced that Barber was making rapid progress in his rehab, but did not give a specific timeline, as this weekend was his return date.
In his final season at Troy, Barber recorded 75 catches, 999 yards and five touchdowns. He has the quickness and versatility needed to contribute to the passing game this season and provide starting quarterback Conner Weigman with another weapon as a pass receiver.
Regarding the players who will not disguise himselfJunior linebacker Scooby Williams and senior running back EJ Smith will miss the game for undisclosed reasons.
A few injury notes: Aggie LB Scooby Williams is unavailable but should be back on the field shortly. Wide receiver Jabre Barber is unavailable. The original goal was for the explosive transfer from Troy to get up to speed in Arkansas, which was earlier than planned.
