Tesla invests in huge tree planting project after fierce backlash against Gigafactory: “An amazing project”

Tesla is leading by example and making the planet greener – literally.

The electric car brand has become a household name over the years – not only because of its revolutionary electric cars, trucks and charging stations, but now because of something even more environmentally friendly: planting trees.

According to Teslarati, Tesla shared on X, formerly Twitter, that the company had planted over a million trees in 2024 alone, providing a video as proof. This was in response to local criticism in Berlin, where people protested against the cutting down of trees near a Tesla factory.

This may seem like a fair response to something like this, but the article reveals more in the tweet: “Tesla has hired Björn, a ranger, to ensure that its tree planting project is carried out correctly, with foresight and consideration for the surrounding environment. Björn revealed that Tesla’s tree planting project takes the future of plants into account. He added that Tesla’s project has ‘reforested’ nearly 450 football fields.”

“This is of course a great project,” said Björn.

Not only is Tesla making a positive impact on the environment by tripling every tree, but it can also help its customers save a lot of money in the long run. Purchasing an electric vehicle has proven benefits, such as saving around $1,500 per year on gas and maintenance, and the company aims to make the world a better place by integrating its vehicles and technology.

Elsewhere, on the roof of the Tesla Gigafactory, there are plans for a 30-megawatt solar array that would be the largest in the world.

Teslarati says Tesla has received preliminary approval for initial construction on its Giga Berlin expansion plans, but the company still has a long way to go to convince protesters that there will be a positive impact in the long run.

Commenters on the Teslarati article were able to see the potential.

One remarked: “If 2/3 survive, it’s good.”

Another person pointed out some potential pitfalls in the planting. She said the long rows of trees could scare away wildlife and lead to unstable wind conditions. But overall she remained positive: “I’m glad they’re emphasizing biodiversity.”

The Cool Down has reported on the positive benefits of owning an electric vehicle, and thanks to Tesla, this revolution has the potential to make the world a greener place both environmentally and literally.
