Tennessee kidnapping suspect arrested after phone tracked nearly 100 miles away in Mississippi

Authorities arrested a kidnapping suspect after managing to track her cell phone over a distance of nearly 100 miles.

Regan Kelly, 28, was wanted on a charge of aggravated child abduction in Tennessee and was arrested in Grenada County, Mississippi. The Grenada County Sheriff’s Office reported that officers found Kelly on Carpenter Road on Monday. The child who was allegedly abducted was found in the apartment with another child.

Both children remained unharmed and were handed over to the youth welfare office.

The Grenada County Sheriff’s Office worked with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Millington Police, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and Grenada Police after warrants were issued for Kelly’s arrest. No further details were released.

In addition to the kidnapping, Kelly is accused of aggravated burglary.

Kelly was booked into the Grenada County Jail and subsequently extradited to Tennessee, where she is being held in the Shelby County Jail on $50,000 bail.

The Grenada County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that both children are now with their legal guardians.
