Temperatures are near record lows this morning, and it will remain cool and dry until the afternoon.

It’s cold this morning in both Virginias, with temperatures starting at 4 degrees. Our record low for today is 44 degrees in Bluefield, so we’ll be very close to that. You’ll want to keep your jacket handy today. Skies are starting off clear this morning, which is one of the reasons it’s so cold. There will be plenty of sunshine by the afternoon, and dew points will be just under 50 degrees, too, so pleasant weather is on the way again.

Today we can expect below-average temperatures again.

Tonight will be cold again, with mostly clear skies, leading to lows around 4 degrees tomorrow morning. Thursday afternoon will be pleasant again, with sunny skies and highs around 24 degrees. A little closer to seasonal, but still cool. Sunshine will continue through the weekend, and no rain is in sight until next week. This is obviously bad for the drought conditions in our area. Weather models show a small chance of rain, but it won’t be a downpour, and that’s the kind of rain we really need.
